God's Covenant With Families - Part 6

God's Covenant With Families - Part 6

Now say, “Family.” Do you remember Philip? The Bible says that he had four daughters that prophesied. How many know that in order to have four daughters you have to have a wife? We don’t have to assume anything. According to the traditions of those days, the predominant mentoring in the house was done by the mother of the children. So if your children grew up prophesying then it would be safe to conclude that mom was a good mom in the Lord, full of the Holy Spirit and not in contradiction to the ministry. Phillip was in full time ministry. That’s very important to understand.

God will call an entire family to make an impact on the greater family so that there will be no walls. Is that clear enough? There will be no walls of distinction or division between family. Of course within their order or function, they’re different, but as far as the love of God; as far as the blessing of God; as far as the economy of God; there are no walls. The same is true about your prosperity, your success, your testimony, and your breakthrough; and it doesn’t stop with you as a family or as a house, it comes to the house of God to honor the Lord for who He is and what He has been in our life!

Now look with me at Luke, chapter 2, starting with verse 40.

40And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. 41Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. 42And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. 43And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.

Luke 2:40-43 KJV

They had no idea what the child, Jesus was up to.

44But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.

Luke 2:44 KJV

Read those words, “their kinsfolk and acquaintance.” That shows us the first place they thought He would be when they found out He was not with them. God works with families and acquaintances. Thank God. They went to the family and acquaintances and asked where is the child, Jesus?

45And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. 46And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. 47And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. 48And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. 49And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

Luke 2:45-49 KJV

Now, watch this:

50And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. 51And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. 52And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Luke 2:50-52 KJV

This is a very powerful thing that I want us to look at. When the Hebrew or Jewish child becomes 12 years old, or is presented at 12 years old, the following day he becomes a child of the law. Do you understand what that means? That means he’s considered an adult. Now they expect him to keep the Word of God. Clearly then, this is a prophetic thing Jesus did.

It was not just the child Jesus, wanting to have a little ‘sound off’ with the doctors. No, this was prophetic ful?llment. He would show all of us that at the time He became a man He caused the most educated people around Him to be amazed at the wisdom that God gave Him just in His preparation. When the average young boy became a man that marked the time when they started learning how to grow into whatever it was that they would become; but when Jesus stepped into that first day, that second day, and that third day of being a child of the law, He talked to the doctors–the scholars of the Word of God–both hearing what they said and asking them questions, and they marveled at His answers.

When you look at the entire thing, you realize that, not only did He ask them questions, but He answered them; and respectfully sitting there, caused the most educated among them to acknowledge that this is not a mere child. He then fulfills being the perfect child. He goes home and is subject to mom and dad for 18 more years. This is all after the time when He could go head-to-head with the most learned people in the nation. Are you listening to me? Through this the Lord shows everybody all over the world that we should never allow what God has done in our life to cause us to step into anything premature or to step into what would cause us to vacate our commitment and covenant with God to continue to grow.

So these 18 years, the Word describes them not only as years when He was with mom and dad, and subject to them in their house, but describes them as years of increase in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man. The Word of God shows us clearly that He was growing with favor with God and man, and whatever sound, whatever Word, whatever message, whatever interaction He was having with the surrounding community, He was having it in the light of who He is as a Son of the house– a righteous servant of the Lord.

He did not step into the time of His appearing to the nation during that time, but He grew in the wisdom, in the knowledge and in the power of the Lord. For 18 years, Jesus is not missing. He’s not gone to India. There are no “lost years of Jesus”. Those are the years when His entire community was made aware of the fact that there is someone different among us and yet He won’t try to make out of Himself something that is premature. He is with His parents. Can you imagine owning the house? Can you imagine being the family that the Lord, Himself, from 12 to 30, was there to ?ll your house with His Words, His sound, His ability, and His power.

I’m going to tell you something better. You are the house of God. You are the temple of the Holy Ghost. He is filling your house.

Lord, I give you praise! I thank you for this time of appointment we have. This is our next phase– our next level. Every single person, husbands, wives, children… every single person globally is part of this house. Fill their lives today! Thank you! Fill your house today with the sound of assurance; with the word of life; with the trumpet of victory; with the life of God. Fill! Thank you Lord for strengthening bodies. Thank you Lord for healing members. Thank you Lord for the energization of the Holy Spirit and regeneration of the Almighty Holy Spirit in every organ and in every part of our life– spirit, soul and body. Preserved! We give you praise! We thank you for your men and your women that are part of what you are doing. We thank you for how you are preparing men and women to occupy this dispensation that we’re living in right now–this window of opportunity to fulfill the word of God. Thank you right now for the immediate. Thank you right now for the now. Thank you right now for the power! Thank you right now for the witness. We give you praise and honor and glory.

Shout it! Say, “here am I Lord –mind, will, emotions, spirit, soul and body. Here am I –my house, my family, my mission, my purpose, and my ministry call. Here am I.”

“I thank you now for your generosity; for your continual giving; for you divine outpouring; for your supernatural promotion; and for your mighty help. I thank you for your active ability, and your working power. I thank you now that all of the economy of the house, all of the blessing of the Spirit is ours today and we rejoice and celebrate the ‘now breakthroughs’. We rejoice and we laugh at results for we know our name is written and no weapon formed against us will prosper. Nothing shall by any means harm us! We are authorized to advance in authority, setting our feet on our enemies and placing the spiritual power of the enemy under our feet to the glory of God.”
