Sowing and Reaping is a core tenet of the Word of God, and one of the most important concepts of Christian life. From beginning to end, Genesis to Revelation, The Word of God is filled with miraculous stories of sowing and reaping: Stories of men and women who put their wealth, their trust, and their lives in the hands of God and were preserved and multiplied because of it. In fact, it has been a part of every covenant that God has formed with man since the fall. Even when it came to the redemption of mankind, and the birth of the new and final covenant, God chose an offering to be the method by which man was redeemed: the giving of His only Son, Jesus.
Offerings are powerful. They are powerful because of what they mean to us, and what they represent to God. An offering is a tangible statement of our faith, and a physical affirmation of our trust in the covenants and promises of God. The Bible tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God, and that faith without works is dead, an offering allows us to put our faith to work, and to place our treasure and our trust where it should be, in Heaven.
Tithe means a tenth, and it is what the Patriarch Abraham, “the father of all who believe,” practiced. It would later become an important facet of the Mosaic covenant, as the children of Levi were commissioned to take tithes of all the tribes of Israel for the administration of the old testament priesthood. Long before this however, Abraham tithed to Melchizedek, who is described as a priest of the very same order as our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, “Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God.”
We practice tithe in like-manner today, bringing our first fruits into the House of God. This statement of faith, and affirmation that our lives and all that we own are in the hands of God allows Him to open the doors of blessing over our lives and to supply for us in everything that we do.
If the Global Church is your church and the house at which you are fed, and you do not have a local church that you can tithe to, or if you would simply like to give an offering and join with us in faith as we bring the gospel to the far reaches of the world, do so in faith and know that God will always supply for you, and will always supply for you to abound to His good works.
38Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Luke 6:38-29 KJV
6But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:6 KJV
